The 2007 Biennial Richmond Hill Holiday Tour of Homes and Tea
will be held on Sunday, December 2nd, from 1 to 5 PM. The tour benefits our community through the following organizations; The Richmond Hill Garden Club, The Historical Society, Friends of the Library and the St. Anne’s Women’s Council.

Commencing with the tea at the St. Anne’s Catholic Church, the tour features five privately owned homes, the Bryan Neck Presbyterian Church and the Richmond Hill Museum.

Advance purchase tickets for the tour and tea are $20.00, and will be available for $25.00 on the day of the tour. They can be purchased at the Richmond Hill Museum located on Hwy 144 and Timber Trail.

Maps are printed on the ticket, as this is a self-guided tour. You can visit the tour sites in any order. Directional signs and balloons will help in locating each site.

Ballroom Dancing in Richmond Hill

Three Saturdays a month, ballroom dancing is offered in Richmond Hill at Life Moves Dance Studio at the Sawmill Shopping Center on Hwy 144. The first hour is spent on a lesson. Usually, lessons are scheduled from 7-8PM, and the dance takes place from 8-10:30PM. The lesson traditionally includes two new dances and the dance is spent practicing what you've learned. This was a lot of fun some time ago and the group had a ball learning moves that are rarely performed.

The studio does charge $10 per person for the use of the studio--and for the amount of fun and time spent dancing, is a real bargain! I hope that you can make it out for some good company, music, and some really good dancing. The Richmond Hill Sailing Club

On April 28th, the Booster Club for the Richmond Hill Sailing Club sponsored a fundraiser at the Outrigger Restaurant at Kilkenny Marina here in Richmond Hill. The event included a sailing exhibition by the club, as well as a dinner and was a great opportunity to show how we can support the growth of the sailing club, which operates under the The Savannah Sailing Center.

As we are fortunate to be so close to such beautiful water, it was also a wonderful way to use one of our best local resources, while encouraging future participants in the club to learn more about sailing here in Coastal Georgia. A New Addition to My Family!

My youngest daughter, Nina, recently gave birth to a lovely baby girl, Maria Isabella. This is the first baby for Nina and her husband, Russell--as well as the first for any of my daughters--and I couldn't be happier! Take a closer look at Isabella by clicking on the "Read More!" link...

Boat Trip on the Tivoli River

Last Sunday, I took a boat ride from my dock out to the Tivoli River. I was accompanied by my daughter Heidi, her husband Jamie, and his friend Mark. Since the tide was coming in, we knew we had plenty of time to get in and out. We took a ride, checking out home sites, birds and all the beautiful sites on the river then headed to have dinner at the Crab House on the Sunbury Channel. One of the things I love most about taking out my boat is knowing that I can tie up at the dock and get a good meal just down the river. There is also the Shrimp Docks restaurant on Sunbury as well, alas, it's not open on Sunday. It's wonderful to have access to something so special, so unique to this area. Dinner just a boat ride away!!!

Antique Cars in Richmond Hill

Occasionally, we see antique cars driving around Richmond Hill, due in no small part to the town's connection to industrialist, Henry Ford.

On Monday, I spotted a flock of them, all headed towards Kilkenny Marina. Out of curiosity, and my personal love of antique cars, I decided to follow them...

I found them all parked at Outrigger Restaurant, with their owners inside enjoying lunch. As it turns out, Richmond Hill is just one of their stops on the spring tour of the Coastal Georgia Region Antique Club of America, including historic Savannah not thirty minutes away, as well as Beaufort and Bluffton, both in South Carolina.

I accompanied a friend and her daughter on an overnight school trip to Cordele, Georgia, which is about three and a half hours from Richmond Hill. In Cordele we boarded a S.A.M. (Savannah, Americus and Montgomery) train for a sightseeing trip to Jimmy Carter's childhood home in Plains, Georgia, as well as the Habitat for Humanity museum.

We saw lots of blossoms--wisteria, dogwood and azaleas--from what must have been old home sites. The train ride was lots of fun and comfortable, and evoked the image of traveling on the Polar Express!

St. Patrick's Day in Savannah

For those of you who didn't know, Savannah is home to one of the largest St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the nation. It's a known fact that the city--including schools--recognize the event as a holiday, including a city-wide parade that fills Savannah with waves of smiling faces in a flood of green.

In addition to the usual festivities, I was lucky enough to have an extra-special reason to party, as I enjoyed a wonderful weekend with my family, celebrating the impending arrival of my grandchild.

As if green beer weren't reason enough to make a person smile!

Welcome to my blog! My name is Teresa Timmons and I am a realtor at Remax Accent in Richmond Hill, Georgia. Located a mere twenty minutes south of Savannah, Richmond Hill is the place I've called home for nearly ten years.

It was the U.S. Army that first brought me to the area, as a military wife following her husband on a tour of duty. But, it was the town, with its casual pace of life, as well as the proximity to the historical Southern beauty of Savannah that eventually won me over to stay for as long as I have.

I've started this blog in the hopes of sharing why I've chosen to make Richmond Hill my home--and why I think you should consider making it yours as well.
